EXCITING NEWS!
The Town of Henderson is beyond thrilled to announce that we have been awarded monies, as part of a grant through the New York State Department of State’s Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP).
The LWRP is a competitive matching grant program available to eligible villages, towns, and cities located along New York State’s coasts. This program helps communities breathe new life into their waterfronts and underused assets while ensuring smart, sustainable, and successful revitalization.
The Town of Henderson has been awarded $101,250 to prepare a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program for our waterfront area along Lake Ontario. This is the beginning of a guided plan for future development in our town—one that focuses on ecological protection, resiliency, tourism enhancement, and so much more.
This grant marks just the first step toward many exciting opportunities ahead for our town we call home. A huge thank you to the Town of Henderson Board for working tirelessly to make this possible. We are still in the early stages of the process and will share updates as they become available, including more information at the January Town Board Meeting. Great things are coming from your Town of Henderson!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in this evenings Fire District vote regarding the potential purchase of the vacant General Store building across from the current fire facility.
The vote concluded with 54 votes opposed and 43 votes in favor, resulting in the decision not to move forward with the purchase at this time.
While the outcome was close, the process itself reflects a community that cares deeply about transparency, fiscal responsibility, and the future of emergency services in the Town of Henderson. We are grateful for the thoughtful discussion, questions, and engagement shown by residents in the Henderson Fire District. The next Fire Commission meeting will be held on December 23rd at the Fire Hall, where the results of this vote will be discussed and next steps for the future will be considered. Community members are encouraged to attend.
Thank you again for being informed, involved, and invested in our town!
