The Henderson Community Improvement Group (HCIG) was originally founded as a committee of the Henderson Business and Community Council (HBCC) under the leadership of then-HBCC President, Dwight Davidson. From the start, HCIG’s goal has been to promote and enhance the Henderson and Henderson Harbor communities.
In 2022, HCIG separated from the HBCC to pursue 501(c)(3) non-profit status, allowing the organization to apply for grants to support community projects—opportunities that the HBCC, as a 501(c)(6), could not access. In 2023, HCIG was officially granted non-profit status by both the State of New York and the federal government. Our board members are all volunteers, and our funding comes from:
Annual donations from our Board of Trustees
Contributions from the Henderson/Henderson Harbor community
Support from Watertown Savings Bank
Grants from the Northern New York Community Foundation
Through these resources, HCIG continues to support initiatives that enhance the quality of life and foster community pride in Henderson and Henderson Harbor.
