The Henderson Historical Society is located in the center of Henderson, NY, at the intersection of County Routes 71 and 72, serving as a hub for preserving and sharing the town’s rich history. Our museum campus is comprised of three distinctive historic buildings, each offering a unique glimpse into Henderson’s past. The former Universalist Church serves as the main museum building and houses an extensive collection of local artifacts, photographs, archival documents, and exhibits that tell the story of the community and the people who shaped it. Just steps away, visitors can explore a fully furnished 1820s log cabin, providing an authentic look at early settler life and the daily routines of Henderson’s earliest residents. Completing the campus is the Peters-Stevens Boat Annex, which reflects Henderson’s deep connection to Lake Ontario and maritime heritage. This building features historic boats, nautical equipment, and artifacts that highlight the importance of boating, fishing, and lake commerce to the area’s development. Together, these buildings create a welcoming and educational campus that invites visitors of all ages to experience Henderson’s history through preserved structures, engaging exhibits, and hands-on connections to the past.
