Join the Henderson Fire Department & Ambulance Squad
The Henderson Fire Department and Ambulance Squad are always seeking dedicated, energetic men and women who want to make a meaningful difference in the health, safety, and emergency preparedness of our community. All training is provided at no cost to you.
Fire Department Membership Requirements
To remain an active member of the Fire Department, volunteers must:
Respond to at least 20% of calls each calendar year (86 calls in 2023)
Attend at least six regular monthly meetings (2nd Monday at 7:30 p.m.)
Participate in at least 50% of monthly in-house trainings (3rd Monday at 6 p.m.)
Assist with at least one major annual event, such as the Memorial Day parade, ceremony and barbecue, or the Independence Day flare sale
Complete the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) within the first year
Complete the Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations course within the first two years
Ambulance Squad Membership Reqiurements
To stay active in the Ambulance Squad, volunteers must:
Respond to at least 10% of EMS calls per calendar year (237 calls in 2023)
Attend at least 50% of monthly meetings (2nd Monday at 6 p.m.)
Complete the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course within the first year
Maintain current CPR certification
Complete the Hepatitis B three-shot vaccine series or sign a waiver
EMT training is also available at no cost for those who wish to advance
Benefits of volunteering

An annual physical exam at no cost
